Importing your contacts from a CSV file

Add many customers or suppliers at once instead of one by one.

If you already have a customer or supplier list somewhere else, import it instead of re-typing every contact by hand.

  1. Go to Contacts → Import Contacts (or select Import from the Contacts list).
  2. Select Download Template to get a CSV file with the right column headers, and an instructions table showing exactly what each column means.
  3. Fill it in — one row per contact. At minimum, give each contact a name; everything else is optional:
    • type — customer, supplier, or both.
    • contact_type — individual or business.
    • business_name — required if type is supplier or both.
    • contact_id — leave blank to auto-generate one, matching what you'd get creating the contact by hand.
    • phone, email, tax_number, address.
    • credit_limit, payment_term, pay_term, opening_balance.
    • customer_group — matched by name against your existing customer groups; left unset if no match is found, never blocks the row.
    • assigned_to — matched by the team member's email.
    • branch — matched by name; left blank, the contact is assigned to your default branch automatically.
  4. Save the file, then select Choose CSV file and pick it.
  5. Review the preview, then select Import.

What happens next

The import runs in the background — you can keep working while it finishes. When it's done, you'll see how many contacts were created, how many were skipped as duplicates (matched by phone or email against your existing contacts), and details for any row that failed, so you can fix just those and re-import them.
