Branches / locations
What a branch is in BusinessCopilot, why multi-location businesses use them, and how they affect what your team sees.
What a branch is
A branch is a physical location your business operates from — a shop, a warehouse, or a packing store. Every workspace starts with one default branch, and you can add more from HR → Settings → Branches at any time. See step 2 of Getting Started if you haven't added yours yet.
Each branch has its own name, an optional short code, a type (branch, shop, warehouse, or packing store), and contact details like address, phone, and operating hours.
Why multi-location businesses use branches
If you run more than one shop or store, branches keep each location's stock, sales, and till separate while still rolling everything up into one business. A pharmacy chain with three locations sees stock levels, sales, and reports per branch, and also totals across all three — without needing three separate BusinessCopilot accounts.
What a branch controls for your team
When you invite someone to your team, you can optionally restrict them to a single branch. A team member restricted to one branch only sees that branch's data — its sales, its stock, its cash register — not the whole business. This is useful for a Cashier or Store Clerk who works at one location and shouldn't see (or accidentally affect) another location's numbers.
A team member who isn't restricted to a branch sees data across every location — typically the Owner, and any Manager or Accountant who needs the full picture.
This restriction is set per person when you invite them (or later, from the Team page) — it isn't a fixed property of a role. Two Cashiers can be set up differently: one locked to a single branch, another with visibility across all of them, if that's how your business needs it to work.
How many locations you can have
Your plan sets how many locations are included before extra locations cost more. See Plans & feature limits.
