Notes Insights

See what your team is documenting — notes by type, priority, month, author and tag — over any period.

Insights turns your notes into simple counts, so you can see how much is being written, by whom, and about what. It only reads your notes; it never changes them.

You need View on the Clinical Notes permission line. Go to Clinical Suite → Clinical Notes → Insights (on the mobile app, the Note insights chip).

Choosing a period

Pick Last 30 days, Last 90 days, Last 12 months or All time. Periods use the note's date. Everything is limited to the locations your role covers.

The Notes Insights page

What you see

  • Notes — the total number of notes in the period.
  • Confidential — how many of them are confidential.
  • By type — which kinds of note are written most, including your own types.
  • By priority — how many are Urgent, High, Normal and Low (only priorities that occur are listed).
  • By month — notes per month, oldest first. With All time, the chart covers the last 12 months.
  • By author — the team members who write the most notes.
  • Top tags — your most-used tags.

Each list shows a bar so you can compare at a glance.

Confidential notes and Insights

Insights follows the same rule as everywhere else: someone without confidential access can't learn what a confidential note is about.

  • The Total and Confidential figures include every confidential note — knowing that some exist isn't secret.
  • The breakdowns leave confidential notes out if you don't have confidential access, so they add up to fewer than the total. The page tells you how many were left out ("N restricted from you").
  • If you do have confidential access, the breakdowns include them.

Two people looking at the same page can therefore see different breakdowns. That's intended.

Good to know

  • Deleted notes aren't counted.
  • Nothing is estimated. The counts are live, taken from your notes as they are right now.
  • Insights counts notes, not quality. A busy author isn't a better one.
